If you’re reading this, you’re probably suffering from ennui. It’s just a way to say you’re bored, but without sounding too lazy. Hall & Oates used it in their song “Ennui on the Mountain,” although they don’t appear to be having a dull time in the video:
There’s even a band named Ennui. Here’s a good song from them:
As Helen Keller put it, “It is wonderful how much time good people spend fighting the devil. If they would only expend the same amount of energy loving their fellow men, the devil would die in his own tracks of ennui.”
Apparently, the devil and his ennui are alive and thriving this election cycle.
